Gabon Advances National Data Center Project with U.S. Partnership

Libreville, Gabon – January 27, 2025 – A high-level U.S.–Gabon delegation convened in Libreville to advance the development of the Gabon National Data Center, a flagship initiative designed to strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure and support its transition to a modern digital economy.

The delegation was led by Dr. Guevera Yao, Vice President of the U.S.-Africa Business Center at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C., with the private sector represented by Claude-Alain Mabbyalas, CEO of Prestige Ventures Group, and Dr. Thierry Wanji, CEO of Cybastion, who presented the project on behalf of the company.

The day’s engagements began with a meeting with the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Economy, where the delegation outlined the technical specifications and financial framework of the project. Discussions focused on funding mechanisms and the institutions identified to provide financing for its implementation.

A follow-up meeting was held with the Minister of Digital Economy to present the project’s technological architecture, operational framework, and financial viability. The National Data Center is set to serve as a cornerstone of Gabon’s e-Government services, secure data management, and broader digital transformation strategy.

Representatives from the United States Embassy in Gabon, led by Ms. Courtney Thomas, Economic Advisor, attended both meetings, reinforcing the ongoing cooperation between the United States and Gabon in advancing technology-driven economic development.
