Gabon’s Digital Future: Advancing the National Data Center Project

Libreville, January 27, 2025 – High-level meetings were held in Libreville to advance the development of the Gabon National Data Center, a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure and accelerating its transition to a modern digital economy.

The delegation was led by Dr. Guevera Yao, Vice President of the U.S.-Africa Business Center at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C. The private sector was represented by Claude-Alain Mabbyalas, CEO of Prestige Ventures Group, and Dr. Thierry Wanji, CEO of Cybastion, who presented the project on behalf of the company.

The day began with a meeting with the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Economy, where the delegation outlined the full scope of the National Data Center project. Discussions covered both the technical specifications and the financial structure required for its implementation, with a particular focus on funding mechanisms and the institutions identified to provide financing.

A subsequent meeting was held with the Minister of Digital Economy to present the project’s technological architecture, operational framework, and financial feasibility. The National Data Center is positioned to become a cornerstone of Gabon’s e-Government services, secure data management, and broader digital transformation strategy.

The meetings were attended by representatives from the United States Embassy in Gabon, led by Ms. Courtney Thomas, Economic Advisor.
